Area of Focus: Community Service/Mentorship
The Lenora Tsegga Senttell Scholarship honors the spirit of selflessness and dedication to family and community. Named after Lenora Tsegga, a tireless servant to her family and community, this scholarship celebrates first-generation college students who exemplify her legacy. It recognizes those who consistently put others before themselves, embodying a commitment to uplifting their families and communities through hard work, compassion, and resilience.
Application Criteria
- Must be an AVID member in good standing for one year
- Must have taken or will take at least one AP class, dual enrollment or college course
- Must attend a four-year college
- Preferably a prospective first-generation college student
Essay (600-800 words)
How do you see yourself uplifting others and/or “paying it forward”? How will you honor the legacy of Lenora Tsegga with this scholarship? What experiences or contributions have started you on this path? How will this scholarship help you? What qualities do you look for in a mentor and what kind of mentorship do you think you will need in your journey navigating college? What qualities do you possess that may one day make you a mentor to others? Include any volunteer work (at least 20 hours) that has prepared you for this endeavor.
