The Marjorie Swig SentTell Scholarship (2023)
Area of Focus: Mentorship/Community Service
This SentTell Scholarship was established in honor of Marjorie Swig, Founder of Greenlight Clinic and dear friend of Walter Wallace. Greenlight Clinic is a consortium of volunteer mental health practitioners that provide free and confidential mental health therapy for young people 14-26 years old in the San Francisco Bay Area so they may develop skills and behaviors to attain their personal goals. Students who are looking to go into the field of mental health, and therapy or have a passion for working with young people are encouraged to apply.
Application Criteria
- Must be a current member (in good standing) in the AVID program for at least one full year.
- Must attend a four-year accredited university upon high school graduation
- Must be a prospective first-generation college student
- African American student
- Must complete the REV Scholarship Packet with attached essay
Essay (600-800 words)
How will you honor Marjorie Swig with this scholarship? How will this scholarship help in your journey navigating college? How do you plan to continue to give back throughout your life beyond college? Include any volunteer work (at least 20 hours) and personal experience that has prepared you for this endeavor.
